How we can make Karkkidaka Kanji in simple method?

Karkkidaka Kanji is Considered as one of the Monsoon Rejuviation Treatment Kerala's Traditional  Ayurveda:





Karkidaka Kanji (Herbal Soup):-  during the month of Karkidakom ! In Ayurveda, mid-June to mid-August is referred to as the Varsha Rithu or the Monsoon period. Tradition and Ayurveda say that rejuvenation therapies are best during monsoon.  This is the right time to monitor diet and take good care of their health.

During Karkidakom with the incessant rains beating down the roof stepping outside is out of question, so traditionally this month is spent in rejuvenation of the mind and body. Most Hindu households read the Ramayanam (the epic story of Rama where good wins over evil and the Ramarajya/order is restored in the world), other than that it’s also an ideal time for Ayurvedic massages & treatments.


A special healing diet is taken during this month called Marunnu Kanji/Karkidaka Kanji (Herbal Soup).   

 

Karkidaka Kanji /Marunnu Kanji (Herbal Soup) :-
You can find Karkidaka Kanji kits plenty in Ayurveda centres. This is also known as 'oushadha kanji', this medicinal porridge is made of around 20-odd herbs and has a special effect in keeping the monsoon fevers at bay.


We can prepare this Ayurvedic porridge or Karkkidaka kanji  at home easily?

 

Ingredients: -

1.            Navarra rice – 100 gm
2.            Broken wheat -2 tablespoons
3.            Coconut milk or Cow milk – 250 ml
4.            Ghee - 1 tablespoon
5.            Salt- 1 tablespoon
6.            Aashali – 10gm
7.            Fenugreek- 25gm
8.            Small onions – 5 nos
9.          Nutmeg- 1 tablespoon
10.          Black cumin-5gm
11.          Dry ginger-5gm
12.          Cumin seeds- 5gm
13.          Cardomom  5gm
14.          Uzhinjil -5gm
15.          Kurunthotti -5gm
16.          Thazhuthama -5gm
17.          Ayamodakam -5gm
18.          Karikurinji -5gm
19.          Puthirichundu -5gm
20.          Grambu – 5gm
21.          Water -1Ltre

How to Prepare Karkkidaka Kanji ?
1.     Boil the ingredients for 15 mnts in cleaned pot.(exclude onion, milk and ghee)  

2.       Add cow milk allow to cook again in low flames 5 mnt.


3.     Clean the small onions and fry it well in 2 teaspoon of ghee. Mix the fried onions to the prepared solution and let it cool for 10 minutes.


Traditional ayurvedic Karkidaka Kaji is now ready to serve.
