Kerala's Traditional Shell Fish Pickle , Kallummakai Pickle, Shrim Pickle
Shell pickle is a Simple,
spicy, delicious and memorable item in Kerala. It is very easy to prepare, we can use this method to
prepare any type of shell fishes and shrimps
Ingredients
- Kaluumakkai or any Shell Fish 1/2 Kg.
- Green Chillies Chopped 6 no.
- Ginger Finely Chopped 2 tbsp
- Curry Leaves 2 stalks
- Garlic Finely Chopped 2 tbsp
- Vinegar 1 cup
- Gingelly Oil ½ cup (any oil we can use as per our taste, if Gingelly oil it will be very tasty )
- Chilli Powder 1 tbsp
- Turmeric Powder ½ tsp
- Salt as per our taste
- Asafoetida Powder ½ table spoon
- Mustard Seeds 1 tsp
- Pepper powder 1/2 tsp
- Sugar ¼ tsp
1. Clean and wash the shell fish and allow it to drain for few
minutes.
2. Mix the flesh with salt , pepper powder and Turmeric powder
3. Fry the flesh in the oil for few
minutes
4. Remove the fried flesh from the oil and allow them to drain for few
minutes
5. Fry Mustard seed in remaining oil, add the shopped ginger, garlic, green
chillies and curry leaves, stir well, when it is brownish colour add chilli
powder then add fried flesh, Asafoetida powder, sugar and Vinegar.
6. Stir well and remove from the fire.
7. Allow to cool and keep in a cool place.
